Draught Tests - All Levels (Beginners to Level 4)

10 & 11 November 2018
Grangewaters Activity Centre, Buckles Lane, South Ockendon, Essex

I have enjoyed being Test Manager for this event, even the weather was kind to us during the day ... not so good during the hours of darkness, but the under foot conditions remained reasonably good.

We tested 27 teams over the weekend, unfortunately, not all passed, but I do hope they will try again, as I am told the standard was very high at all levels. Thank you to our judges and stewards to all who messed in and helped out and to Grangewaters for hosting this event.

A glorious sunny day at Grangewaters, with 11 dogs entered.
Some fantastic control sections completed, with two dogs not making it through the 'down stay' and one dog not completing all of the haul. Eight fabulous passes – which were all well deserved.
Thank you to our stewards for being so helpful.

Level 4

Hosie Solo Newfoundlove New Edition at Shadowrise

Two entries for Level 4 today. One team achieved a perfect control section, dropping no points at all. The other dog dropped a few points but accomplished the necessary level of performance.
Both entrants completed the haul to a high standard. Back up could be improved - as far as possible needs to be done in one maneuver and not two separate backups. Apart from that, obstacles conquered brilliantly, both entrants thought through approach and asked for help when required.
Well done to both entrants.

Thank you SNC for the invite to judge Level 1 at this test. Luckily the very heavy rain of the preceding night had passed leaving a pleasant Remembrance Sunday.
There were seven entries, one of which unfortunately had to withdraw on health grounds. The remainder of the mixed experienced passed with varying fluency.
Thank to Grangewaters Working Newfoundlands, Test Manager and stewards for hosting the event and ensuring its smooth running.

Many thanks to the SNC for my first Level 3 judging appointment at Grangewaters and for the organizers who ensured everything ran smoothly.
Six teams entered, with four very good passes. The two who failed had difficulty with the back-up in the control section, but would be more than capable of passing on another day.
Very wet conditions underfoot on the haul caused a little difficulty, but all teams were experienced and coped well.
