Dave and I have organised this event since 2012, with great success. Since Covid, it appears draught work has become less popular - everyone seems to want to swim their dogs, which is great, but they seem to be forgetting that Newfies are also draught dogs, once they came out of the cold Atlantic waters, helping their owners to land their catch, they were then used to transport fish, provisions and even the Canadian mail across Newfoundland. So come on, try carting with your dogs, the newfs love it and it keeps their body and brains active throughout the winter months.
This year we saw very few entries, however I think we all had fun and made the event a happy, successful one, both during the tests and the evenings when we all met up for food. Thank you everyone for mucking in and helping out.
I'd like to thank Di Vincent for once again opening up her home to us, to all the judges, stewards and entrants, hopefully see you all again next year.

Weather was fine. We had six entries, all very good passes. Thanks to the Test Manager, Kay, and Sara and Caroline for stewarding. Thanks to the SNC for inviting us to judge.
This was a very enjoyable first experience at judging – Rebecca Thornton.

Many thanks for the invitation to judge at the Roger Vincent Memorial weekend. Three teams of varying experience presented to test at this level and it was good to see some very good team work between handlers and dogs and one-another over quite challenging terrain.
Two dogs passed, sadly one failed - it was a very good attempt at it's first time at this level.

We had a lovely sunny, but chilly day, which was ideal for our entry of four in Beginners. A nice mix of novice dogs and handlers and some more experienced teams, all of which provided us with the same textbook passes. Well done all!
Thanks must go to SNC for running another exceptional test and to Diana Vincent for allowing us to use her beautiful house and grounds for this lovely test weekend.

Many thanks for the invitation to judge at this lovely venue - the weather was kind!
Three teams came forward at this level and we had three lovely passes. All teams are showing great promise for the future.

Thank you SNC for inviting us to judge Level 3 at the Roger Vincent Memorial test this year on 26th February.
The weather was cool but still and dry. We had one entry who was entering this level for the first time and passed. The haul was combined with that of Level 4. The going was soft to heavy in parts (to say the least), and the team worked well as a unit, as well as cooperating well with the higher level entrant to negotiate challenges.
Thank you too to SNC for hosting the test as well as for for the hospitality, and a special thank you to Mrs. Di Vincent for allowing us to use her property for the test.

This venue is excellent for draught work, nice flat ring area, good selection of areas for out of sight down stay, lots of natural objects for the manoeuvring section and lots of opportunities to test the teams out on the haul - and test them we did!
It was nice to do a combined haul with Level 3 and good to see the both teams working well together in a very taxing haul.
We have watched this team come up through the levels, and pleased to see handler and dog have worked extensively to conquer their nemesis (out of sight down stay) resulting in a lovely Level 4 pass.
Thank you to our stewards, to Di Vincent for allowing us to roam over her land and to the L4 team for giving us the pleasure of judging them today.
