Show Manager's Report
"Well it wouldn't be the Southern Newfoundland Club show without the weather trying its very best to hamper procedings...this year it was relatively kind with slippery conditions on the road and underfoot delaying some folks. As usual all the Committee worked feverishly behind the scenes to produce a well run, enjoyable event which I am sure did not go un-noticed by the Kennel Club Field Officer, who chose this year to make his first visit to our show. The result of his report is eagerly awaited and I'm sure will be very positive.
Thank you for all those who attended and brought your lovely dogs with you. It was you who as usual provided a warm and friendly atmosphere for our third show by supporting all the exhibitors in the ring right up until the end of the show. The dogs as usual behaved impeccably. The days events in the ring were managed by Hedd who kept things ticking over nicely, whilst our two judges Barrie Croft and Ken Jessup enjoyed their day being kept busy with an entry of very nice dogs. Your generosity provided a super raffle which raised a healthy amount for Welfare. I have deliberately avoided naming individuals but my thanks go to all those who helped out in whatever way they could. Having said that - thank you Paul Dodd once again for the sterling job you do in taking pictures of our winners and producing the results on our web site with amazing swiftness. Once again thank you all for supporting the events that we hold and we look forward to seeing you again next year.
Hope you all have a Happy and healthy Christmas and New Year with your dogs demonstrating how to eat, sleep and be merry."

Puppy Dog (3 entries, 1 absent)
- Cutts & Galvin, Kenamu Break The Mould Merrybear Black instantly impressed with his size strenth and bone. Looked quality liked the type, masculine, massive broad skull short muzzle dark eye good bite ex. pigment lovely length of neck strong fitting into good shoulders, well ribbed good topline deep chest lovely big strong quarters and strenth on the hock. Ex. jacket in full bloom presented and handled to perfection. Moves freely and totally sound, he does need to concentrate on the move in the big ring challenging the puppy bitch he tended to throw himself about and he's still slightly loose in front only a baby he will come together, sure to do well. Quality and balance sums him up.
- Spence, Zentaur After The Storm Brown smaller quality, liked the head again his front needs to tighten somewhat pleasing quarters good bone depth of chest and a lovely jacket shone with health and care.
Junior Dog (5 entries, 2 absent)
- Morris & Baxter, Albanywater Sea Dancer At Davistell BIS. Black, instantly appealed to my eye love the breed type so well balanced massive bone looked powerful full of his own importance has attitude which gives him style and ring presence lovely skull dark eye ex. bite lovely front with ex. bone right down to those so important and correct feet. Broad back level topline deep chest great strenth in those quarters on the move just fills the eye free easy powerful action. Sending him around the ring his profile is so impressive loved him and would be amazed if he doesn't finish at the top! Special and he has that something extra that all top dogs have.
- Walden, Wanitopa Cruising Along Of Joalta W/B and Best W/B in Show. Love the type real look of quality about him fabulous head good neck ex. bone well balanced I wouldn't want any more weight over the withers! Overall a lovely youngster I would expect to do really well in the breed, easy strong sound action. In immaculate coat condition.
- Gower, Shalowseas True Or False Brown pleases in head liked the bone and substance front could be better and not moving too well on the day back or front.
Post Graduate Dog (6 entries, 3 absent)
Only my winner had a correct bite.
- Lloyd, Cewrirdwr Llyn Cowlyd Black not the biggest but that easy sound action was always going to appeal to my eye. Looked quality pleasing head type correct bite ex. pigment good neck enough bone for his size strong backline forelegs perfectly straight tight elbows well ribbed good backline in lovely coat and body condition.
- Walls, Blacktide In The Red Black bigger type which tends to appeal to my eye. Very attractive head shape eye could be a fraction darker looked quality well balanced outline ex. bone a powerful masculine dog! Sound, bite could be better.
- Scannell-Harrison, Kjalarnes Raffaello For Stormcove Black quality much to like, bite could be better and tends to fall away over the croup ex. bone deep chest lovely temperament, action back and front could be better.

- Turner & Farr, Kalibah Artemus Pride Res BIS. Black of super quality breed type and balance caught my eye entering the ring with his free flowing easy action stylish dog with ring presence in abundance helped by a clever handler that always had him looking just right. Head appealed that neck gives a lovely profile strong backline ex. bone, deep chest loved those strong quarters. At four years old it crossed my mind why he was not a Champion? Certainly looked CH quality to me. In the most immaculate form, Top Class.
- Bown, Sandbears Mack Super Liner For Bownbears Black bigger all round masculine quality dog. Very attractive head ex. bite super neck ex. bone balanced in body and profile.
