SNC DRAUGHT TESTS LEVELS BEGINNERS - LEVEL 4
Saturday 28 February & Sunday 01 March 2015 - East Hamsworthy Farm, Pancrasweek, Holsworthy, Devon
Test Managers: David Viney & Kay Burridge
"The Devon draught test is over for another year, this year the weather was kinder and we managed to complete all scheduled tests.
We had a good entry of around 36 teams over both days, so judges and stewards were kept busy. My thanks go to Roger & Di Vincent for allowing us free run of their home, to Carol and Michele for taking charge of keeping us well fed and watered - you have the job again next year.
Thank you judges and stewards and most of all everyone who took part, no matter whether you were successful or not remember you took the best dog home with you - we hope you enjoyed the experience and look forward to doing it all again soon."

Judges Reports - Beginners Level
"TWe had a mix of entries with 2 braces and 5 single teams. Handlers worked very well and showed team work, sadly the 'down stay' proved a little difficult for two dogs.
Both 'brace' were handled very well. Well done to all handlers."
Peter Webber & Diana Vincent
"I would like to add a big thank you to Pete Webber for steering me around my first ever appointment, which I enjoyed immensely and to thank all who entered their dogs."

Judges Reports - Level 1
"Another great event, many thanks to Roger & Di.
We had some nice passes, those that failed showed the same old problems - tight leads and not enough hand and verbal commands. The dogs will almost certainly respond better if handler concentrates on giving good commands.
Many thanks to all stewards and to test manager Kay."

Entrants: 6 Passes: 1 Absent: 1 |
Congratulations to:
Webber's Seamble Majestic "Lincoln"
|
Judges Reports - Level 3
"Five entries but only one pass, unfortunately four did not make it.
Obedience/heel work is greatly improved, handlers are more aware of the need for better heel work. Backing-up is still a problem with dogs not able to do it, plus intimidation, ie handlers standing in front.
The down stay still not solid but the haul greatly improved.
TThanks to fellow judge, Kev Clarke, and steward Ann Webber."

Judges Reports - Beginners Level
"We had 7 entries today with 7 passes. Generally a little more work is needed on getting the dog's attention and loose leads. Some extra work on the down stays now, will pay dividends for the higher levels.
It was a pleasure to judge all teams, I am sure they will progress to higher levels in the near future.
My thanks to co-judge David Taylor and the stewards."

Judges Reports - Level 1
"We had five nice passes, including a good pass by a brace.
The biggest problem continues to be too tight leads and not enough non-verbal/verbal commands, if the handler remembers to communicate with their dogs they will have an even better response.
Many thanks to all stewards, the test manager and to Roger & Di Vincent."
