What a wonderful weekend, even the weather was good to us just one or two blips giving me a headache - first one being one of our judges had to back out at the last minute due to ill health - thankfully Dave stepped into the breach and judged L4, thank you Dave.
Allowing judges to enter their dogs and judge proved a little challenging this test, but this was overcome by splitting the level and urgently appointing two judges to do the second 'batch', thank you Jackie and Jen for judging L1.
This venue is very special to us, everyone who attended would like to thank Di Vincent for allowing it to go ahead this year. During the weekend we held a raffle plus a bucket collection in memory of Roger, all monies collected will go to SNC welfare.
We had 35 entries over the weekend, the biggest entries being in L3 and L4, it's amazing to see how many teams have developed and grown over the years and nice to see some newcomers and our veterans in the lower levels.
A fun puppy/veteran test was held on Sunday – this was really popular and all enjoyed the experience, especially the two newfie puppies, who seemed to have a whale of a time! Thanks to Jane and Anita for 'judging' this for us. Due to popular demand it will be at our next test in Mersea at the end of March.
As this test is not run by any working group, we couldn't do it with out everyone helping as a team, so thank you to everyone who attended, for all the help freely given, to everyone who stewarded, sorted out food, took photos and kept me sane.

Three entries in Beginners today, including two Brace. Both Brace entries passed today, but unfortunately the third entrant, a very young girl, only wanted to play today - but she enjoyed herself just the same.
Lovely to be asked to judge here in Devon with thanks to the test manager and everyone else who work so hard to ensure the event ran smoothly and very much enjoyed.

Six teams were tested at this level on a lovely warm, sunny day. Five teams passed with some excellent handling. We had a technical haul through some muddy areas. It was good to see the participants working as a team on certain areas of the haul.
Thanks to the stewards and helpers and also thanks to the SNC for asking us to judge.

The weather was fine and quite warm for the time of year. We had six entries, two did not get past the control section, with one team not completing the back-up and one dog leaving the ring. Of the remaining four, one did not complete the down stay. The remaining three all did a good haul and obtained a good pass.
During the control section, a couple of dogs seemed not to be focused and the handlers had to work hard.
Many thanks to the Test Manager, Kay, stewards Sarah and Clive and to the SNC for asking us to judge.

A beautiful sunny day in Devon today, with two teams of brace dogs plus one single dog entering Beginners draught, giving a total of three entries. Lovely passes for both brace teams, who were a pleasure to both judge and watch. Sadly our single entry was a young dog whose mind was more on playing, than on doing the control, so unfortunately did not meet the standard required.
Thank you for inviting me to judge, and also to my co-judge Jen Lewin, our test host Diana Vincent, and to everyone involved in so ensuring today ran smoothly.
A great venue and a great event, and I very much hope that we are able to return again next year.

I would like to start by thanking the test managers for another well run test and also our host, Diana Vincent for allowing us to share her property.
A great turn out in some pleasant weather considering it is only Februaury.
Today, along with my fellow judge Clive Walls, we had the pleasure of passing two single dogs and two braces in Level 1. All dogs and handlers deserved their passes with some lovely control work and great execution in Maneuvering/Haul.
Thank you for inviting me to judge and I look forward to seeing everyone again soon.

Thank you to the SNC working sub section for inviting me to judge at the 2019 Devon draught tests and to Diana Vincent for allowing these tests to be held once again at her beautiful home!
We were so lucky with the weather this year with bright sunshine all weekend making it warm enough for the handlers but not too warm for the dogs.
My co-judge, Jen Lewin and I had four dogs to put through their paces in Level 1. Three lovely passes and one unfortunate fail where, after completing a lovely control section, this dog refused to complete the down stay. Congratulations to all three teams who passed!
A big thanks goes to everyone who attended this event and making it such a great weekend. Hope to see you all there again next year.

Nine entries, five passes from the control section, unfortunately one sat up during the down stay, with not enough points to continue. This left four teams for the Haul. We had some entertaining teams in the control section though!
The Haul although quite demanding and taxing pulled all team members together in difficult circumstances. This in turn brought dogs into their own with enthusiasm and confidence - was great to watch them grow during this level.
All four teams passed with distinction on a tough day.
