Class Results

Firstly I would like to thank the Committee for inviting me to judge their prestigious show.

On the whole the dogs were presented in good clean condition, tails are still an issue and there were a few with loose, round eyes and also I found eyelids that turned in (Entropian). We need to be mindful of these issues when breeding, it is not good for the future of the breed.

Best Veteran DogBest White & Black DogBest White & Black in Show

7½ year old white and black male, super well proportioned head and short muzzle deep muzzle, tights lips and almond shaped eyes of mid brown colour, lovely neat correctly shaped ears. Straight forelimbs although I would have preferred more width to his chest, level topline which he kept on the move, well angulated rear and correct tail. For a veteran he moved freely around the ring showing reach and drive. Well marked and presented in super clean condition, good markings and very minimal ticking. Happy to award him Veteran Male, Best Veteran in Show and Best W/B in Show.

2nd Crosier's Nurburgnewf Cayman, ShCEx

7½ year old black male of good size, good bone throughout, although a tad long in the body. Head of equal proportions with well set eyes which were dark in colour, muzzle short and clean, scissor bite, ears a little long but did not detract. I would have preferred more angulation on the front to allow him to give more reach on the move. Rear anglulation was good and on the whole he moved around the ring with ease showing he is fit. Lacking his jacket today.

Brown male who show’s great promise. Lovely out line with good strong limbs, which were straight and sat on well rounded paws. Topline was good which was level when he showed himself off around the ring.

Very impressive Black Male of 16 months. Exceptionally well turned out and in full coat. He showed strength and depth throughout. Head is large without being over done, short square muzzle, good dentition and expressive kind dark eyes, ears were small, neat and well set. Excellent bone throughout. Deep chested and well ribbed body, excellent bone and feet with short rear pasterns, lovely depth of thigh. Tended to carry his tail a little high. A very bright future for this boy. Shortlisted for top honours.

2nd Moore & James' Starnewf Mr Dark Sky, JW

At 17½ months this black male was unlucky to come up against my winner. Lovely shaped boy but not as mature as my winner. Head of good proportions, correct bite. Very expressive dark eyes showing off a very cheeky look. Bone was good and feet tight, a little longer in loin and rear pasterns. On the move he showed good reach and drive but made his handler work!

Wow, he caught my eye when he entered the ring and didn't disappoint when I got my hands on him. Only 19 months but so well put together. Great size throughout with excellent bone and tight feet. Majestic head with correct bite and small dark eyes. Good reach of neck and excellent well placed shoulders, good depth of chest, short coupled and well angulated front and rear allowing him to move effortlessly around the ring with level top line and correct tail carriage. He has a lovely dark brown coat and was presented in lovely condition which finished the picture. Another with a very bright future and I have no hesitation in awarding him Dog CC, Best in Show and Best Brown in Show.

2nd Payne's Bearhugs Rockefeller at Squestpaws

17 months white and black of good size, young male who was lacking his jacket today. Having said that what you see is what you get. He is of good size with a lovely head with square muzzle and correct bite, nice dark eye and good reach of neck leading to well placed shoulders and level topline, not the substance of my winner, very fit active dog who moved well around the ring once settled, another giving his handler a work out!

3rd Burton's Vodahond Arlo

The baby of the class at just 13 months so not as mature, of good size but again lacking the bone and substance of my winner, having said that he moved well around the ring but would prefer more drive. He has the makings of a masculine head with a lovely soft expression, muzzle is deep but a little loose in lips which will tighten as he matures. Teeth correct, nice dark eye. Moved true coming and tad close on the rear, level topline kept on the move.

Graduate Dog (2 entries / 0 absent)

Winner of Graduate Dog
1st Gorvin & Cole's Davistell B'Mian Rapsody of Newfnouveau (A.I.)

A difficult class as two dogs that were totally different in size, substance and movement and will change places on another day. At 2½ years this boy took the class as he had the edge on size, maturity and carrying a full black coat. His head is broad but still needs to develop as a little flat, but this will come, scissor bite with dark eyes, ears large where were a little low set. On the stack he tended to dip in topline but on the move it was level, he scored better in his front movement than rear as I would have preferred more drive.

2nd Farrar's Disoranto Cool Hand Luke at Darkpeak (Imp Pol)

19 months. Good size black male lacking in jacket today, he has good bone throughout. Shorter in body than one, well ribbed and short coupled, lovely kind soft expression with head in correct proportions, good teeth and lips. Good length of neck leading to good shoulder placement, good bone and feet and correct short pastern on the rear. Another boy who carried his tail high on the move which sadly was very erratic, another giving his handler a total work out. I am sure when he matures he may settle and listen to his handler and show us how well he can move.

Limit Dog (8 entries / 2 absent)

Winner of Limit Dog
1st Brown's Valhalabears Jibber Jabber

A very strong class of well turned out boys. 3 year old black male, good size both in height and proportions having great strength of bone throughout. Classic Newf head which is well developed showing kind expression, ears well placed but a tad long, chest is well developed and body well ribbed although he is a little long in the body. Moved easily around the ring showing good reach and drive and level topline, very well presented.

2nd Carter's Zentaur The Fizz Factor, ShCEx

Black male just over 4 years old, good sized male, excellent head piece, with excellent proportions, short deep muzzle, teeth correct and tight lips. Dark well placed eyes that are correct in shape, giving a melting expression. Well placed shoulders and broad back, adequate bone for size and well angulated throughout, another fit for function male who showed good reach and drive but tail carried a little high on the move.

3rd McPhail's Anchorbrook Aye Aye Cap'n

This 3 year old boy has the best bone I have seen in a long time. Large black male with majestic head square muzzle and well set ears and correct bite, but I would have preferred a tighter eye. Lovely cat-like tight feet. Reach of neck is good and body is well ribbed. Topline when stacked was a bit soft. Moved well around the ring showing good reach, but a tad close on the rear.

1st Chapman's Ch. Nandobears You'll Never Walk Alone (Imp Deu)

3 year old black male shown in beautiful clean coat, this boy moved as one with his handler showing reach and drive on the move. On the stack he is correctly proportioned with excellent bone throughout. Head maturing nicely with small well-shaped kind eyes, ears well set and correct bite. Strong neck and well laid back shoulders, deep broad chest and limbs parallel sitting on tight cat-shaped feet. Level topline which he kept on the move. Shorlisted for top awards but he did not move as well as he did in his class.

2nd Drakeford's Mississippi-Missouri Walking My Angel (Imp Srb)

3 years large compact black male. Strong bone and feet, strong head but not overdone, square muzzle with correct bite. The smallest of neat thick ears that were correctly set, which we are lacking in the breed. This boy is carrying too much weight which lets him down when on the move as he moves correctly both coming and going.

1st Blake's Ch. Sandbears Masterpiece
Best Black DogReserve Best Dog in Show (RCC)

This was a lovely strong class. Not the biggest but so well put together, head piece which is not overdone with square muzzle and correct bite, well set eyes and ears, strong neck and well laid shoulders, plenty of bone throughout, deep chest and well ribbed, correctly angled throughout enabling him to move freely around the ring. Shown in fit, pristine condition.

2nd Hosie's Lux. Ch. King Of Helluland Jungle Book at Shadowrise (Imp Svk), JW

2½ year old black male, masculine that is not overdone, correct set eyes, good bite and ear set. Strong bone throughout with well sprung ribs, broad deep chest and well muscled. Moved well around the ring but today he carried his tail too high, which distracted from his movement.

3rd Thompson's Comfortcove You Can Fly to Safeharbour

5½ year old black male, presented in good clean condition. Lovely head piece with dark well set eyes, correct head to muzzle ratio, length of neck was good which led to well laid back shoulders, broad deep chest and a level topline tht he kept ont he move, moved well both coming and going. Lacking his jacket tody.

Good breadth and depth throughout with ribs well sprung. Good bone throughout and she stood on straight parallel legs with well shaped feet. Strong level topline that she held on the move. Well presented and handled allowing her to move freely around the ring. Best Veteran in Show and Bitch CC.

2nd Farrar's Ch. Disoranto Juliana Blue at Darkpeak (Imp Pol), JW

8 years old larger girl than 1. but has a lovely head with soft kind expression, well laid shoulders and forechest, little longer in the body but nonetheless another quality veteran, lost out today as she was not as positive on the move.

At 11½ months this black girl impressed me with her effortless movement. On the stack she has a fabulous profile standing level on parallel legs with good bone throughout. Well set ears and kind dark eyes, good jaw and bite, correct tail set and level topline which she kept on the move. Movement was excellent showing good reach and drive. Developing into a very promising girl who I am sure has a bright future.

Not quite in full coat at 13 months she was presented in good condition. Very pretty head and dark eyes showing a kind expression. Correct ears and bite. Good reach of neck and well placed shoulders, chest and body developing nicely, level topline which she kept on the move, moved well around the ring showing excellent reach and drive.

2nd Petersone's Starnewf Little Twinkle

16 month black girl, not the biggest of girls. Lovely feminine head with dark eyes and soft expression. Lovely profile, excellent reach of neck and level topline, moved well and in harmony with her handler, good drive but a little loose on the front but this will improve as she develops.

3rd Chapple's Vodahond Violet for Peakcharm

Another 13 month old black girl, pretty head with soft expression, good bite and well placed ears, well ribbed with good depth of body, needs to firm up throughout.

Deep chest and well ribbed, level topline and good tail set.

Excellent presentation.
